Pinna

This pencil sketch of a right external ear, or “pinna” demonstrates the often under-appreciated complexity of much visible human anatomy.

An ability to accurately render the subtleties of these structures as a drawing, along with their normal variation, surely serves to fix them in the reconstructive surgeon’s mind. This can only facilitate surgical restoration of function and appearance destroyed by trauma or disease.
