We know that the clinical scope of plastic surgeons is not limited by an anatomic region, nor by age. They are specialists in many specific areas of medicine and surgery.  Plastic surgeons play an often under-appreciated role in the solution to complex health issues,  restoring patients to being functional members of society and becoming involved in the response to conflicts, civil emergencies and disasters. 

In this section we explore the ways plastic surgery, and surgeons, have impacted society. We explore areas of practice,  research and the devlopement of new technologies and techniques which have kept plastic surgery at the forefront of surgical development.
