Home Collections Self-portrait with Loupes Self-portrait with Loupes This 2013 ink and watercolour image was produced for the front cover of the BAPRAS summer scientific meeting programme. It depicts the artist between cases with a surgical mask loosely falling around his neck together with his magnifying operating Loupes. Loupes are universally used by plastic hand surgeons when operating upon the small and delicate soft tissue structures within the upper limb, particularly the nerves, blood vessels and tendons. Donald has provided cover illustrations for numerous BAPRAS and British Society for Surgery of the Hand publications.
