The Gillies Archive

Formally at The Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup

The Gillies Archive was created and run at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup by Dr Andrew Bamji, a consultant Rheumatologist there.

Dr Bamji discovered the extant patient records of wounded servicemen treated there at the Queen's Hospital during and shortly after the First World War. He created a large collection of documents and ephemera relating to early plastic surgery as well as an online presence.  This includes a bibliography of medicine and surgery in the First World War and a database of facial injury patients, together with several image galleries. Dr Bamji is the BAPRAS  "Gillies Archivist".

We are working on the incorporation of the website into this room in the Virtual Museum, but the original archive remains accessible by following this link:  Gillies Archives
