“Mount Margaret “From Wilson Point, India

This oil on hardboard painting by Sir Harold Gillies a view of what is described by Gillies, and the plaque on the frame of this work as “Mount Margaret”.

It is painted from Wilson Point, in Mahabaleshwar, 75 miles from Pune in India and believed to be from a trip he made there in 1957. Gillies may have confused the name of this landscape feature.
